1. Angels We Have Heard On High
| Introduction |
(Spoken) Mercedes did you know
it will be Christmas soon, and there will be
lots of celebrating with family and friends
and presents. And there will be
special services at church.
Christmas is a wonderful time.
One of my favorite things at
Christmas is all the songs.
Oh Mercedes the great songs
about Christmas, like this one.
Mercedes this song is called
“Angels We Have Heard On High”. 7" |
| Chorus |
Gloria in excelsis Deo
Gloria in excelsis Deo |
| Verse 2 |
Come to Bethlehem and see
Him whose birth the angels sing;
Come, adore on bended knee
Christ, the Lord, the new-born King. |
| Chorus |
Gloria in excelsis Deo
Gloria in excelsis Deo |
|
2. Still, Still, Still
| Spoken |
Wasn't that a great song
Mercedes?
Christmas sure is a wonderful time,
but besides presents and lights
Christmas has a much deeper meaning.
Do you know why we celebrate
or the real meaning of Christmas? |
| Verse 1 |
Still, still, still,
One can hear the still night call.
For all is hushed,
The world is sleeping,
Holy Star its vigil keeping.
Still, still, still,
One can hear the still night call. |
| Verse 2 |
Sleep, sleep, sleep,
‘Tis the eve of our Saviour's birth.
Night is peaceful all around you,
Close your eyes,
Let sleep surround you.
Sleep, sleep, sleep,
‘Tis the eve of our Saviour's birth. |
| Verse 3 |
Dream, dream, dream,
Of the joyous day to come.
While guardian angels without number,
Watch you as you sweetly slumber.
Dream, dream, dream,
Of joyous day to come. |
|
3. What Child Is This
| Spoken |
Well Mercedes I'd like to tell you the
story of when Jesus Christ was born.
It was over 2,000 years ago. God
sent an angel named Gabriel to the
town of Nazarus in a place called Gallilee.
Gabriel was sent to visit a young
woman named Mary, who was
about to get married to a man
named Joseph.
Now Mercedeswhen the angel
entered Mary's room, he said,
“Greetings to you, Mary, oh favored one.
The Lord be with you.”
Well Mercedes at first Mary was wondering
why the angel had come to see her, but
the angel said, “Don't be afraid Mary,
God loves you dearly.
You are going to be the mother of a son,
and you will call him Jesus.
He will be great, and will be known as
the Son of God.” And Mercedes
the angel told Mary, God's Son
would save all who believe in Him.
Now Mary was a poor woman who
was overwhelmed that an angel of the
Lord would visit her, but Mary excepted
the angels message with an open heart. |
| Verse 1 |
What Child is this, who laid to rest
On Mary's lap is sleeping?
Whom Angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping? |
| Chorus |
This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and Angels sing;
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary. |
| Verse 2 |
So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh,
Come peasant, king to own Him;
The King of kings salvation brings,
Let loving hearts enthrone Him. |
| Chorus |
This, this is Christ the King.
Whom shepherds guard and Angels sing;
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary. |
| Chorus |
This, this is Christ the King.
Whom shepherds guard and Angels sing;
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary. |
|
4. O Holy Night
| Spoken |
A few weeks before baby Jesus was born,
the King sent a message to everyone
in the land, that there needed to be a Census.
Mercedes a Census is when
everyone is counted, and to be counted
properly everyone had to travel to
the town in which they were born.
So Mary and Joseph had to travel
all the way to Bethlehem to be counted,
and Mercedes back then
people had to walk or ride donkeys
when they traveled, and it was a
long way to travel.
It took several days. |
| Verse 1 |
O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of our dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn. |
| Chorus |
Fall on your knees! Oh hear the angels voices!
O night divine, Oh night when Christ was born;
O night, divine!
O night, O night divine! |
| Verse 2 |
Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
Soled by light of a star sweetly gleaming.
Here come the wisemen from Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus in lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friend. |
| Chorus |
Fall on your knees! Oh hear the angels voices!
O night divine, Oh night when Christ was born;
O night, divine!
O night, O night divine! |
|
5. O Little Town Of Bethlehem
| Spoken |
Mercedes when Mary and Joseph
reached Bethlehem the city was crowded
from all the people that were there to
be counted. They stopped at one
Inn after another trying to find a place
to stay the night. In fact Mercedes
it was so crowded that all the Inns
were full. But one kind Inn Keeper
told Mary and Joseph they could
sleep in his stable with the animals. |
| Verse 1 |
O little town of Bethlehem
How still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight |
| Verse 2 |
O holy Child of Bethlehem
Descend to us, we pray
Cast out our sins and enter in
Be born to us today
O morning stars together
Proclaim the holy birth
And praises sing to God the King
And Peace to men on earth |
| Verse 3 |
Oh hear thy sacred angels
As faith holds wide the door
The darkness wakes the glory breaks
As Christmas comes once more |
|
6. Silent Night
| Spoken |
Mercedes later that night, baby Jesus,
the Son of God was born.
Since there wasn't any room inside
in any of the Inns, Mary wrapped the
baby in a blanket and laid Him in
a manger. Do you know what a manger
is Mercedes? A manger is like
a troth or box that's carved out of
stone or wood and used to hold food
for animals. That's what Mary laid
baby Jesus in. In fact, it's been said that the
night grew silent and even the animals
in the stable grew quiet, the night baby
Jesus was born, as if they knew
a great miracle was happening. |
| Verse 1 |
Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin, mother and child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace |
| Verse 2 |
Silent night, holy night
Shepherds quake at the night
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heav'nly hosts sing Alleluia
Christ the savior is born
Christ the savior is born |
| Verse 3 |
Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus Lord, at thy birth
Jesus Lord, at thy birth |
|
7. Away In A Manger
| Verse 3 |
The cattle are lowing
The Baby awakes
But little Lord Jesus
No crying He makes |
| Spoken |
You know Mercedes there have
been lots of songs about baby Jesus
and the manger.
This is one of my favorites. |
| Verse 1 |
Away in a manger,
No crib for His bed
The little Lord Jesus
Laid down His sweet head |
| Verse 2 |
The stars in the sky
Looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus
Asleep on the hay |
| Verse 4 |
I love You, Lord Jesus
Look down from the sky
And stay by my side,
Until morning is nigh. |
| Verse 5 |
Be near me, Lord Jesus,
I ask You to stay
Close by me forever
And love me I pray |
| Verse 6 |
Bless all the dear children
In Your tender care
And fit us for Heaven
To live with You there. |
|
8. Hark The Herald, Angels Sing
| Spoken |
Mercedes the night Jesus was born
in Bethlehem way out in the fields there
were Shepherds. These Shepherds were
guarding all through the night to
make sure no wild animals would get
their sheep. Suddenly and Angel of the
Lord appeared, and it was like a blazing
light of glory! And guess what
Mercedes? The shepherds were scared,
but the Angel said, “Don't be afraid.
I am here to announce a great and
joyful event, which is for all the people
around the world. This very day in
Bethlehem a Savior has been born for
you. He is Christ, the Messiah, and Lord.
You will find the baby wrapped in
a blanket, and lying in a manger.”
Oh Mercedes they were frightened,
then suddenly there were Angels
everywhere, praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in Heaven, and peace
to all people who love Him!”
Then the shepherds knew not to be afraid. |
| Verse 1 |
Hark the herald angels sing
“Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled”
Joyful all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With angelic host proclaim:
“Christ is born in Bethlehem”
Hark! The herald angels sing
”Glory to the newborn King!” |
| Verse 2 |
Christ by highest heaven adored
Christ the everlasting Lord!
Late in time behold Him come
Offspring of the favored one
Veiled He lays His glory by
Born no more that men may die
Born to raise the sons of earth
Born to give them second birth
Hark! The herald angels sing
”Glory to the newborn King!” |
|
9. Joy To The World
| Spoken |
When the angels left them and went back
into Heaven, the shepherds decided to
travel to Bethlehem and see the baby Jesus.
So they came running and they found
Mary and Joseph and the baby lying in
the manger. Mercedes they thought it
was wonderful. They told everybody
what the Angels said to them about this
little child, and everyone they told
was amazed by their story.
Later the Shepherds went back to work,
and on the way they shared the news of
the baby Jesus with everyone they saw. |
| Verse 1 |
Joy to the world, the Lord has come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven, and heaven, and nature sing. |
| Verse 2 |
Joy to the earth, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy. |
|
10. We Three Kings
| Spoken |
When Jesus was born, a bright star
appeared in the heavens Mercedes, and
wise men followed the star east to
Bethlehem to find the Christ child.
Whey they finally found the baby Jesus
they were overwhelmed with joy and
they gave Him gifts of gold,
frankincense, and myrrh. |
| Verse 1 |
We three kings of Orient are,
Bearing gifts we traverse afar,
Field and fountain, moor and mountain,
Following yonder Star. |
| Chorus |
O, star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to the perfect light. |
| Verse 2 |
Born a babe on Bethlehem's plain;
Gold I bring to crown Him again;
King forever, ceasing never,
Over us all to reign. |
| Chorus |
O, star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright,
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to the perfect light. |
| Verse 3 |
Glorious now behold Him all rise,
King and God and sacrifice,
Heaven sings, “Hallelujah!” “Hallelujah!”
Hallelujah peels through the earth and skies. |
|
11. O Come All Ye Faithful
| Spoken |
Christmas sure is a great time of year
Mercedes. And when you know the real meaning,
it's even better.
Jesus Christ was born on Christmas day.
He came into the world so we could all be
saved. And that Mercedes is the
true meaning of Christmas. |
| Verse 1 |
O Come All Ye Faithful
Joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him,
Born the King of Angels;
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord. |
| Verse 2 |
Sing, choirs of angels,
Sing in exultation,
Oh sing all ye citizens of heaven above
Glory to God, glory in the Highest;
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him.
Christ the Lord. |
